【October 24th】TIB CATAPULT Kick-off Event was held!

Tokyo Metropolitan Government launched a new initiative called the "Global Innovation Challenge Cluster Creation Project" (commonly known as "TIB CATAPULT") to foster globally growing startups. This project focuses on the areas of business and technology where Tokyo has strengths, and aims to create "innovation Clusters" (hereinafter referred to as Clusters) where corporate organizations collaborate to strongly support startups. These Clusters will advance collaborative projects with startups.
On the occasion of the launch of this project, 6 Clusters have been selected, and we held a kickoff event for the project. The event was attended by 144 participants from various fields, providing an opportunity to share detailed information about the project and the initiatives of the Clusters. During the networking session, lively exchanges took place between the Clusters and participants, making it a successful and vibrant event.

1. Opening & Introduction to the Project

At the opening of the event, Mr. Yoshimura from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (Office for Startup and Global Financial City Strategy) spoke about the potential of the "Tokyo Innovation Base" as an innovation node, and the characteristics of the CATAPULT business, "the production of globally active startups through collaboration among various players such as large companies, universities and VCs."

2. Cross-talk Session

In the main program, a representative from each cluster,The external experts, and The moderators took the stage, and a talk session was held with representatives from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's projects on the initiatives of each cluster and the "dreams" of each cluster.
The representative of each cluster spoke passionately with outside experts about the "dream" part of collaboration with startups and the expansion of the cluster, and it was an opportunity for the participants to experience the energy and appeal of the cluster firsthand. In addition, during the talk session, we specifically mentioned the image of startups and businesses that we would like to collaborate with in the future. We conveyed to the participants that the door to participation in clusters is wide open, and many businesses showed a great deal of interest.

3. Networking

This event provided an opportunity for deepening interactions with Clusters from various fields, and as such, it was attended by a wide range of participants, including startups, venture capitalists/financial institutions, government agencies/municipalities, and corporate organizations.
Through engaging with the representatives of each Cluster and participants who resonated with their visions, the venue was filled with excitement, and the event concluded successfully with a vibrant atmosphere.
